Which made me think that I should charge up the camera battery and snap some pictures of ironclads. In the 1980s I devoured everything I could find about American Civil War ironclads and started scratch building my own 1/600 scale models. I even tracked down and purchased my own set of the Official Records, Series 1 and Series 2. Eventually, I evolved a set of rules (Iron & Steam). Not too many years into the decade, Toby Barrett began producing his beautiful Thoroughbred Models and it seemed like every time I spent months scratch building, within a year he'd put out a much superior model than mine! I succumbed. What follows is a compendium of my ACW ship collection--minus 4 or 5 which are considerably worse for wear over the course of the last several moves.
Drat! Just as I was finishing up the pictures I knocked a box off the desk. Six more of the ships are considerably worse for wear now. Oh, bother!
